This was not something we were expecting.
Delcie’s Desserts & Cakes has received the Silver Award for Best Sustainable Cafe / Bakery at the RWS Sustainability Awards 2026.
We knew we had been invited to the awards, but Delcie did not even realise we had been nominated in this category.
We also had not asked our customers, friends or community to vote for us.
So when we found out that Delcie’s had received the Silver Award through public voting, it made the recognition especially meaningful.
It felt like people had noticed what we have been trying to do all these years, even when we were not actively asking them to.

Sustainability, for us, has never been one single thing
When people hear the word “sustainability”, it can sometimes sound like a separate programme or a one-off initiative.
That has never really been how we see it.
For us, it is tied to a much bigger question that has shaped Delcie’s from the beginning:
How can we make food more thoughtfully?
That question affects the ingredients we use, the recipes we develop and the way we think about who our products are for.
Delcie’s has spent years developing plant-based bakes without eggs and dairy, as well as products for people with different dietary needs.
That work has always required us to question conventional ways of baking.
If we remove eggs, what takes their place?
If we remove dairy, how do we keep the cake moist and satisfying?
If we reduce or change certain ingredients, how do we make sure the finished product still tastes good?
The point has never simply been to take things out.
It has been to find better ways to build the product again.
Thoughtful baking also means thinking about who gets included
A lot of our work has centred around people who do not always have many options at a typical bakery.
That may be someone avoiding eggs or dairy.
It may be someone looking for a gluten-free or lower-sugar option.
It may be a parent buying for a child with dietary restrictions, or a company trying to cater for a team with several different needs.
For us, creating more inclusive food is part of creating food more thoughtfully.
It means asking whether more people can take part in the same celebration, rather than having one person sit out or be given something completely separate.
That has been part of Delcie’s mission for many years, and it continues to shape the way we develop our products today.
Why this award means so much to us
Awards are always nice to receive.
But this one felt different.
Because we had not been actively campaigning for votes, the fact that the public chose Delcie’s made the recognition feel very personal.
It told us that the values behind what we do are being seen.
Not just the cakes.
Not just the products.
But the thinking behind them.
We are still learning, and there is always more we can improve.
Sustainability is not something we would ever claim to have “completed”.
It is an ongoing process of looking at how we operate, asking better questions, and making changes where we can.
That is why this award feels less like a finish line and more like encouragement to keep going.
Thank you
To everyone who voted for Delcie’s, thank you.
You may not have known that we did not even realise we were nominated, but that is exactly why your support meant so much.
Thank you as well to Honeycombers and Resorts World Sentosa for the recognition, and congratulations to the other businesses recognised in this year’s Sustainability Awards.
We are very grateful to be among them.
And to everyone who has supported Delcie’s over the years — whether by ordering a cake, recommending us to someone with dietary needs, attending one of our events, working with us as a partner or simply sharing what we do — thank you for believing in what Delcie’s stands for.
We will keep doing the work.
We will keep learning.
And we will keep asking how we can create food more thoughtfully.
