Creating the Rochor Chocolate Flavor
I created the initial Rocher Chocolate Cake to satisfy my own cravings.
After giving birth to my second daughter, Heera, I had gained a significant amount of weight and felt self-conscious about it. My sister-in-law and brother, who were both on keto diets, recommended that I try it as well to lose the baby weight quickly.
As I began my keto journey, I felt very deprived because I couldn't eat any cakes. At the time, keto was just starting to gain popularity, and there were very few keto-friendly dessert options available. The few that existed didn’t taste good or satisfy my cravings.
I was particularly disappointed that I couldn't enjoy Ferrero Rocher chocolates with their crunchy hazelnuts and sweet cream.
Determined to find a solution, I decided to embark on a journey of baking keto-friendly products. After all, if you can't find it, make it yourself, right?
The cake was initially keto because I was making it for myself. However, when I tasted my first creation, it didn’t taste good enough. I realized the problem was with the regular hazelnuts I had used. I wanted the same type of hazelnut cream found in the chocolates I was craving.
I searched extensively, visiting every supplier I could find until I finally discovered one who supplied the same hazelnut paste as Ferrero, sourced directly from Italy. This small tub of hazelnut paste cost me over two hundred dollars, but I invested in it because I wanted only the best for myself.
My investment paid off when my recipe tasted exactly like a Ferrero Rocher transformed into a cake. I was on cloud nine! Being a person who loves cake for supper every day, I was thrilled to get back to my routine.
Initially created for personal consumption, the overwhelming positive response from others led us to adapt the recipe for our customers. Today, our Rocher Chocolate Cake is a decadent blend of premium dark chocolate and Italian hazelnuts, a testament to our commitment to quality and taste.
