Meeting new people always sparks fresh insights, prompting me to reflect on my business endeavours.

Jian Yong, the founder of Happy Fish Swim School, embodies remarkable ambition and vision for future generations.

His starting journey felt like watching someone swim against a strong current, with every dollar spent feeling like water slipping through his fingers. Yet, like a swim instructor guiding a struggling student, he kept his focus on staying afloat, determined to reach the shore.

Jian Yong's children play a pivotal role in his business. His eldest daughter's smiling dive into the pool, captured in a video, showcased not just swimming skills but also confidence and courage. It reminded me of a grandfather I met on a flight back from Israel, who also taught his son swimming since he was born—another story for another time.

Starting his daughter's swimming lessons from day three of her life, Jian Yong's commitment to nurturing confidence is inspiring. By age four, she was swimming in the ocean with him, chasing after whales.

I was so inspired on the spot that I decided to create our entire 2024 Father's Day cake based on his story.

He transformed swimming from a skill to a catalyst for confidence and courage in children—an essential trait in today's "strawberry generation."

This is why I called our Father's Day cake the Captain of Courage.

Just like our dad, who fearlessly steers us to be brave, to be true to ourselves, and to embrace the fun in life.
