I am thrilled to announce our upcoming collaboration with Science Centre Singapore at KidsSTOP!
On the 4th of November, I will be conducting an insightful seminar addressing the crucial topic of "Navigating Food Allergies."
Food allergies in children are on the rise, likely due to a complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors, particularly in today's world of genetically modified foods.
I've personally witnessed banana farms growing up to 200% larger than their original size after genetic modification, highlighting the changes in our food landscape.
In Singapore, it is astonishing that 1 in 20 kids may have some form of food allergy, making it a common concern compared to many years ago when I first started baking allergy-friendly cakes in 2008.
Despite this growing concern, there are still a significant number of parents and educators who may not be well-versed in the complexities of food allergies and their impact on children's lives.
Of all the baby photographers whom we have worked with, all of them would have at least 1 encounter with babies rushing to the hospital during a cake smash.
We cannot dismiss this as a trivial matter with phrases like "a little bit won't die."
In this seminar, you will gain valuable insights into how we craft allergy-friendly baked goods and the key ingredient substitutions we use to replace common allergens found in the diets of children aged 5 and below.
While this seminar is structured to benefit preschool educators, we extend a warm invitation to parents as well.
Food allergies are a shared concern, and our aim is to increase awareness and understanding within our community. Together, we can create a safer and more informed environment for all children.
This is my second time working with Singapore Science Centre. Afterall, baking is science too!
